Zelda Williams Gets Sentimental Tattoo to Honor Her Late Father

Robin Williams, beloved actor and comedian, passed away more than two months ago at his home in Marin County, California. The 63-year-old took his own life and reportedly battled mental illness and depression for years leading up to his death.

Yesterday, his daughter, Zelda Williams, posted a photo to her Instagram account of a tattoo she got in tribute to her dad.

For poppo,” Williams wrote in the caption, “I’ll always put my hand out to shake with a smile.”

In the media frenzy following her father’s death, Zelda Williams has used the attention to turn a tragic situation into an opportunity to help others. One way she did this was by setting up a donation page to her father’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which exceeded its $5,000 goal in less than a day.

She’s also been vocal about mental health on Twitter, speaking out on behalf of those who live with mental illness and fighting the stigmas surrounding it.
