This Tattoo Artist Does Something Special Once a Week for a Customer With Down Syndrome

It’s moments of simple kindness like this that make us proud to be members of the human race.

Jason Ward, a tattoo artist at Muscle and Ink Tattoo in Hamilton, New Zealand, has a special customer that comes in once a week, according to a post on Reddit.

The customer is an older woman with Down syndrome, and every Friday Ward carefully applies temporary tattoos to her skin.

Ward plays along with the make-believe tattoo customer, even using the spray bottle and putting on gloves like he would for a regular tattooing session.

I take 5 minutes out of my day to keep her smiling,” Ward wrote in a Facebook comment.

Rochelle Douglas, a client of Ward’s, snapped the photo above when Ward took a break from tattooing her to see to the customer, she said in a Facebook comment on the image. Since it was posted on Reddit, the photo has received more than 3,000 upvotes.

My everyday goal is to make someone smile and have a great day, as I am just an average guy doing average things that make me and my family happy,” Ward wrote in a Facebook comment. “Thank you to those who have kind words to say about this, that makes me happy.”
