A father of a child with Down syndrome took to Facebook to right a wrong.

Robb Scott, a professional artist from Nova Scotia, Canada, posted a video to his Facebook page on Saturday, February 20. In it, he describes an incident he witnessed at the movie section in a store. Scott overheard a father answer his son’s question about Down syndrome with misinformation — he told the boy it was an illness of “not knowing anything.” Scott, who has a son with Down syndrome, didn’t correct the father and his on. Regretting this decision, Scott took to Facebook to right the wrong and share how Down syndrome has positively affected his life.

“Down syndrome is literally one of the most beautiful things that’s ever happened to my life… It’s not an illness,” Scott says in the video below. “Down syndrome is the best thing that has ever happened to me, but I didn’t say that. I didn’t step up for my son and for other people with Down syndrome.”

This is important for me to say. Excuse my emotion.Kelly Macintosh-Scott.
