It’s never fun to feel “forgotten” — and it can be heartbreaking to find out a close friend has been feeling forgotten for a while.

Maybe your friend has been struggling a lot with their mental health, and has been isolating. Maybe your loved one just moved away, and they feel a little “out of sight, out of mind” when it comes to people back home. Or maybe your friend feels left out because some of their friends have started hanging out more without them.

No matter what reason your friend has for feeling forgotten, sometimes a text can be such a simple, but powerful way to show you care. Because of this, we asked members of our mental health community to share one text they would love to receive when they’re feeling forgotten themselves. Below you will find their suggestions.

It’s important to remember our loved ones can’t read our minds. If you’re someone who has been feeling forgotten by your friends, we encourage you to talk to them and express how you’ve been feeling. We hope this list of text messages helps you start a conversation with a loved one — and we hope it also reminds you that even when you’re feeling forgotten, you’re never truly alone.

Here are some text messages members of our community would love to receive when they’re feeling forgotten:

You're important to me. My life is better because you're in it. Let's spend a lazy day together. No expectations. We'll just watch a movie, play games, eat yummy food and/or just chat. It doesn't matter what we do. I just enjoy your company.
