Glamberts unite — Adam Lambert has a new single dropping Thursday night that you won’t want to miss it. The “American Idol” alum made the announcement on Facebook, saying that the song, “Feel Something,” came from his recent mental health self-care journey.

Lambert shared in the lengthy post that he hadn’t been feeling his musical direction, so he made changes to his label and management. But he also said he struggled with his mental health. “My self-worth was suffering, I was lonely and becoming depressed,” Lambert wrote.

He revealed he thought romantic love and relationship was the answer he was looking for. However, Lambert said he discovered his desire to “fall in love” was more of a need to feel, which may be relatable if you’ve ever felt emotionally “numb.” He wrote on Facebook:

This was written about me climbing out of the low period, defying my disillusionment, owning my needs and opening my heart. The life of a bachelor can be a laugh, with plenty of flings, but after awhile it starts to feel empty. Between frustrations with my career and many lost connections, I felt numb—and though I wanted to fall in love, I knew I wasn’t ready. That’s what inspired me to cry out, “I don’t need to feel love, I just want to feel something!” It was in this realization that I took my first step toward self-care and nursing my spirit back to health.

Lambert said he sought professional help for his mental health and leaned on loved ones for support, which helped him move through his depression. He is currently on tour with the rock band Queen and will perform at the Oscar’s in celebration of the film “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Though he didn’t announce when the full album would be released, Lambert teased “Feel Something” will be released Feb. 22 at midnight ET/9 p.m. PT.

“The tracks will chronicle the journey of taking responsibility for my own happiness and strength, and searching for intimacy,” Lambert said. “Since writing this song, I’ve found the joy I was missing and I’m back in my power. I can’t wait for you to hear more!”
