Dear Fellow Warriors:

It’s no secret that this has been a hard, and to be quite frank, a disastrous year. We have seen how tragic a new virus can become. We have seen our friend’s towns and cities literally go down in flames. If you wake up in the morning and are constantly fighting with the face staring back at you in the mirror, do not feel bad. We are all facing hard times and insecurities. This is a global situation. Your feelings are completely valid and understandable.

Personally, this virus has not really shifted my life too much in terms of being isolated at home. I already spend a lot of time at home and do my best to stay busy and productive. Even though this is not outside the realm of my routine, I can surely sympathize with the fact that spending a ton of time at home can cause a significant shift in the betterment of mental health. This is especially true if you work or worked in an industry where dealing with people was paramount. We become so accustomed to socializing because it is what is expected and is more or less normal.

If you are feeling lonely or low, please do not hesitate to reach out to a family member or friend. If you find this does not do the trick, please consider seeking professional help to better serve your mental health needs. I am aware that seeking help is considered a weakness. I know there is a lot of pressure to admit that you need help, but it is one of the best things that you will ever do for yourself. It will not only increase your confidence, but it will also help raise your self-awareness and self-esteem.

High confidence in a highly chaotic world is essential. It is something that takes time, and it certainly does not happen overnight. However, practice makes perfect, and the more you perfect the attitude, the more you will reap the benefits of it. You may feel like this will be a long or perhaps a never-ending journey. I promise you that even though it may not feel like it is ending anytime soon, it will get better. We just have to try our best to harness our best coping mechanisms.

Please know you mean the world to someone. Your presence helps mold the world into a better place. Know that your smile and your compassion make a difference in the world somewhere. Your existence is magical, and you are destined to make a difference in the world. Your best is the best you can do.
