I blinked and it’s already nearing the end of summer! Happy August to my spoonie friends and readers. Writing this article, I was preparing to head home to Cape Cod to celebrate the Forth of July with my family. I haven’t been home to Massachusetts since 2019, which feels like an eternity ago.

While I was excited for a mini-vacation, I’m also beyond thrilled about the amount of flexible work opportunities I’ve seen pop up in the last few months. A year and a half ago, when we launched Chronically Capable, it felt a bit like “pulling teeth” to get employers to understand the benefits of including those living with chronic illnesses and disabilities in their workplaces.

Now, 18 months later, we are inundated with new employers joining our platform who are eager to get to know our community. Not only are these employers investing in us, but they are ready to roll their sleeves up and learn. What’s important about this is that employers aren’t just “talking the talk” but they are truly “walking the walk.” In the past few months, we’ve placed hundreds of folks into roles on our platform, hosted the first-ever virtual job fair for chronically ill professionals and have done countless hours of employer trainings and education.

We are here folks. The time is now! I’ve carefully curated this list of opportunities for you, from employers I know and trust to be inclusive. These employers want to hire us and support us!

If you are new to these monthly articles, my name is Hannah Olson and I’m the founder of Chronically Capable, a digital talent marketplace and community that connects chronically ill and disabled jobseekers to inclusive employers. We have always believed in the importance of creating space for the chronically ill and disabled to work and excel at their jobs without feeling like they have to sacrifice their health. Now, we’re working on getting employers across the globe to join us in actively supporting our community!

If you want to keep up with our work and our job opportunities, be sure to sign up for our newsletter or check out our Instagram to stay updated! On that note, I’d love to share six remote work opportunities available this August. These roles are hot and going fast!

1. Voltus

If you’re passionate about renewable energy (like myself), you will love Voltus: the leading technology platform connecting distributed energy resources to electricity markets delivering less expensive, more reliable and more sustainable electricity. Best part about Voltus? They are regularly adding 100% remote full-time, part-time roles and internships! When applying for Voltus through Chronically Capable, be sure to read the instructions and mention us in the subject line of your application. Voltus wants to hire us, folks!

2. NexRep

Flexible, work-from-home opportunities are a huge hit for those living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. We’ve seen huge success on our platform placing independent contractors, as these roles allow for people to work from the comforts of their home. Unlike conventional contact centers, NexRep recruits, contracts and certifies independent contractors who provide services to their clients from home. Since these are contract positions, NexRep doesn’t offer benefits, but they do offer 100% remote roles in 33 states. The only states they do not currently contract in are: AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, IL, MA, MD, ME, MO, NJ, NY, OR, RI, VT, WA and WI.

I’m geeking out writing about Spotify because this platform gets me through each day. If you’re looking to join the ultimate band, Spotify is your place! With roles in 23 locations and hundreds of 100% remote roles, you’d have the opportunity to work for a leading organization in the music space. The company prides itself on being diverse, and you can read for yourself what it’s like being a part of the “band.” Their benefits are a-m-a-z-i-n-g, including extensive learning opportunities, flexible share incentives, six months global parental leave, comprehensive healthcare plans and more.

4. PHP Agency

PHP Agency teaches people how to make money, save money and get out of debt. Pffft I need to have a consultation! With part-time opportunities providing the opportunity to earn $3,000-$4,000 a month, this is a great organization to work for. While their positions are contract-only and they do not offer health benefits, the salaries are amazing and the company is 100% remote. Heck, you can also teach your friends everything you learn about making and saving money!

Who here is obsessed with Canva? I started using Canva in college and now it is my favorite design tool on the internet. It is easy to use and accessible, and has such diverse images and graphics. Founded in Australia, the organization has job opportunities spanning across the globe. They have over 30 millions users worldwide so I can imagine that they’re expanding rapidly.
