Elmo Proves It's Not Too Late to Get Your COVID-19 Vaccine

You heard it here first, unless you didn’t because the internet is a vast place where information is passed on at an alarming rate, but everyone’s favorite monster just got their COVID-19 vaccine. 

In a segment targeted towards adults rather than kids, Elmo shows off his new band-aid, courtesy of him getting the COVID-19 vaccine. He laughs and goes off camera, and that’s when Elmo’s dad turns to the camera, speaking to the parents.

“I had a lot of questions about Elmo getting the COVID vaccine. Was it safe, was it the right decision? I talked to our pediatrician so I can make the right choice. I learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep himself, our friends, neighbors, and everyone else healthy and enjoying the things they love,” the furry monster sad says. 

In this short segment, they confirm a few things that are so important:

1. It’s understandable that parents may be hesitant about the COVID-19 vaccination for children. 

Instead of shaming those parents, the segment admits that and says that the best thing to do is talk to and consult a pediatrician (not a Twitter thread) on whether or not the COVID-19 vaccination is safe for your children. Once again, a licensed pediatrician, not Dr. Tik Tok or Twitter M.D.

2. It’s still not too late to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 rates are currently surging. While vaccinations are set to be updated for the Fall, as mentioned by the FDA, current strains of COVID-19 are still breaking through. Even personally the Omicron (which I still call the Omarion) variant tap danced through my system this past winter, and I have several friends who only recently walked away from positive at home and PCR tests. 

If you don’t have your vaccine yet, it’s not too late. If you aren’t boosted, you can still make that appointment to do so. If you can get the second booster, I’m jealous of you because I want it badly, so go do the thing and if any part of it makes you uncomfortable, go speak to your medical team. They’re here for you, and your children.
