My name is Jordan, and I am a former elementary classroom teacher turned researcher.  I study the relationship of executive functions (higher order cognitive skills) and early numeracy (math) development.  My hope is to expand my research to the relationship of cognitive development and mental health risk factors in early childhood.  My inspiration began with a combination of my own mental health journey and the observations of my students who struggled despite support.  I envision a shift in family counseling in the early years that better addresses the support of the parents and other immediate caregivers.
