I am an autism mama to the most precious mini Sheldon Cooper. Living in the Caribbean has its advantages but availability of resources to deal with special needs is not one of them. To provide the best opportunities for my son and the many others like him, meant becoming an advocate to raise awareness in a country where few understand and to demand acceptance so they are part of the community like everyone else.
On my journey, I’ve met other brave and fearless autism mamas and together we are changing the landscape of how special needs are viewed. Our parent support group “Autism Spirit” seeks to empower parents to be the ultimate advocates for their children, and by extension educate the greater population on how they can help.
