Nikhil was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) in 2011, and has had two bone marrow transplants from matched unrelated donors, the last in 2013. Despite getting sick in his final year of high school, he’s managed to get into medical school and started writing a blog called Musings of a Med Student Patient both to help other patients out and try and convince doctors and future doctors to understand and care more for their patients. He aspires to find the cure and is working on immunotherapeutic research right now and has also started his own social enterprise, PlayWell.
