Because of her depression and anxiety, Renee dropped out of college in her fourth year. Finally at the age of 44, she completed her bachelor’s degree and has now completed a graduate certificate in Paralegal Studies, with honors. Because of her sensory processing issues, she has struggled with employment for all of her adult life, yet she has managed to avoid disability insurance–so far. She volunteers with San Diego’s Clean Slate Clinic, a volunteer-run organization that helps individuals through the criminal record expungement process. She has decided to stop hiding her mental illness, and in particular she refuses to be silent on the subject of suicide. She is a QPR-trained Gatekeeper and will never hesitate to question you if she believes you may be thinking of suicide.
