Dyslexia is a learning disorder that leads to difficulty reading and converting written letters and words into speech due to problems in identifying speech sounds and how they relate to letters and words. Dyslexia occurs in children, and is commonly diagnosed when the child enters school. It appears to be a genetic, inherited condition that affects the part of the brain concerned with language. While there is no cure for dyslexia, early intervention and educational accommodations help to alleviate the symptoms.
