Fragile X Syndrome

Community, Stories & Info

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is a genetic condition that results in intellectual disability, behavioral challenges and abnormal physical characteristics including large ears, long face and soft skin. Behavioral characteristics include autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, social anxiety, poor eye contact, sensory disorders, hand flapping and/or biting and increased aggression.

Males are affected more frequently than females, and often display more severe symptoms. There are no life-threatening health conditions associated with FXS, so life expectancy is normal.
