Huntington's Disease

Community, Stories & Info

Huntington’s disease (HD) is a progressive, genetic disorder that causes the breakdown of nerve cells in the brain and deteriorates physical and mental abilities. It usually results in cognitive and psychiatric disorders, and difficulties in movement. It is inherited and a parent has a 50 percent chance of passing the disorder on to the child. Currently, there is no cure for HD, but medications can be taken to manage symptoms.
