Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome

Community, Stories & Info

Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) is a type of childhood epilepsy that results in multiple types of seizures, including tonic (stiffening) and atonic (drop) seizures. LGS commonly persists into adolescence to adult years and requires lifelong treatment. It accounts for 2-5% of pediatric epilepsy disorders, and may cause impairments in intellectual development and behavioral problems. Individuals with LGS usually do not respond to seizure medications, but treatments including dietary therapy, implanted devices and surgery can help.
