Ovarian Cancer

Community, Stories & Info

Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that originates in one or both of the ovaries, which are the two reproductive organs in women that produce eggs (ova), and the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Ovarian cancer is often difficult to detect in its early stages because of their location in the body, and commonly only is discovered once it spreads within the pelvis or abdomen. Signs include bloating, pelvic and/or abdominal pain, trouble eating or feeling full quickly, fatigue and the urge to urinate frequently. Late stage ovarian cancer is difficult to treat, and treatments include surgery to remove the ovaries or chemotherapy.
