Parkinson's Disease

Community, Stories & Info

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects the areas in the brain that control movement. The brain begins to produce less and less of a neurotransmitter called dopamine, which makes it more difficult regulate movement, speech and emotions. Early signs include hand tremors, stiffness or slowing of movement, and symptoms progressively worsen over time. Currently, there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, but medications may help to improve symptoms.
