Periodic paralysis is a group of muscle disorders characterized by occasional and irregular episodes of muscle weakness or paralysis. The majority of these disorders are genetic, and can be divided into primary and secondary disorders. It can range from minor, occasional weakness to permanent muscle damage. Treatment can include a medication called Dichlorphenamide, which is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor.
