After her illness Alanna started riding horses as a form of physical therapy. Though she did not grow up riding horses, she found that they gave her back her life. Alanna was amazed at the connection that was formed, both physically and emotionally. She felt such freedom getting out of her wheelchair and working with such a giant animal that could lend her its legs. While at the therapeutic riding center that she started at, Alanna learned about the sport of para-dressage and was eager to learn more. To further challenge herself, she started training with Lehua Custer at the L.A. Equestrian Center with her Swedish Warmblood gelding, Ramazotti 75. She’s excited for what the future holds in her journey as a para-equestrian and is looking forward to being successful at upcoming events and competitions for Team USA.
