Mighty Member since June 2017
After two years of Medical School, I was forced to take a full year off due to worsening pain and symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, and migraines. Ultimately diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, I decided not to return to the long, physically arduous days of medical school. After graduating from the University of San Francisco with a Masters of Science in Behavioral Health this coming August I will pursue a career in patient advocacy/coaching while working to redefine the patient experience and design healthcare around the patient perspective. I read The Mighty because it makes me feel that I am not alone. I relate so strongly to some of the entries on The Mighty, that I feel those posts could have come from my own hands.
