Mighty Member since October 2018
I am an Occupational Therapist who graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2021. During my studies I established her award-winning blog ‘Not So Terrible Palsy’, where I explored my experiences as a disabled occupational therapy student and explained how I navigated the barriers I faced during my professional training. I also highlighted the role of virtual placement opportunities pre Covid and through her own role-emerging virtual placement, exploring the benefits of virtual opportunities for disabled students. In my new role post qualification I continue to strive to improve the university journey for other Occupational Therapy students who have experience of disability. Georgia, also does this in her role as one of the founding members of AbleOTUK, a network and advocacy group for disabled occupational therapists. Most recently, I was named a Rising Star on the Shaw Trust’s Disability Power 100 in 2021. I will continue to advocate, and use my platforms daily to improve occupational therapy training for disabled students and highlight ableism within occupational therapy education.
