My amazing husband has given me so many wonderful things in our years together. But after just 1 year of marriage in 2016, he developed Lyme Disease and gave that to me, too. He has it far worse than I do, and I became an advocate for him. Recently, as my own fatigue became more consistent and certain symptoms linger, I’ve accepted the diagnosis for myself as well. But I am not defined by what I cannot do! I am a passionate advocate for people with special needs and work 1-on-1 with students with a variety of conditions, including autism. I love to read, garden, and play guitar when I have the energy. I love road-tripping to visit my family and college friends on my breaks from work. I want to do more than just get through a day; I want to make the most of what I've been given in each and every day. Yes, I grieve for what I’ve lost, but I also rejoice in the lessons I’ve learned and the ways this has made me a better person.
