Therapist doesn’t believe in Autism? #Aspergers #Autism #Neurodiversity

I’ve been seeing the same psychologist for around two years now and they have helped me immensely.

Recently I brought up looking into formal diagnosis for my currently self-diagnosed neurodivergence. I explained that a formal diagnosis may help me access certain services and adjustments. To my suppose, they stated that they do not believe ‘labels’ are important or necessary. I’m quite confused and upset by this response and it feels quite invalidating. Any thoughts or advice? They are otherwise very helpful and open minded so I was very taken aback
