Kelly and Kelso

@kellyandkelso
Kelly and Kelso is a children’s book series about a little boy with Down syndrome and his imaginary koala, Professor Kelso. The series of books was inspired by the real life of Kelly Owen Burk and his many adventures. Kelly’s nephew, Jordan, created the series after the loss of his uncle. Kelly and Kelso teach us that we may all look different on the outside—but it’s important to remember that deep down, we are all very much alike. We all have the same needs, desires, and feelings. Kelly and his new friends help teach kids that everyone is the same on the inside, and it’s our differences that make this wonderful world, which is home to us all, an interesting—and special—place. These enduring, colorful, and charmingly illustrated books offer an easy, enjoyable way to learn about inclusion—and what truly matters. They are an engaging read for kids and adults alike. The books also include a guide for parents and teachers to use in answering questions about Down syndrome, as well as a fun new song with every book.
