Mom, wife, friend and cancer survivor trying to get through life one moment at a time:) I have renal tubular acidosis and medullary sponge kidney in the only kidney that remains due to renal cell cancer and it only functions at 28%. I am constantly in pain and exhausted. When they removed my cancerous kidney my adrenal gland had to go along with it. I honestly didn't know until then just how much that adrenal gland helps you out. So although I look fine on the outside I am one sick woman on the inside and people just don't get it. Even my own family will tell me to get up and just get moving and I will feel better. Oh they are sooo wrong. It only makes me feel 10 times. worse. Hang in there you guys, it has got to get better for us!! And if it doesn’t, we have each other❤️

Is it worth it?

Sunday I spent 90 minutes getting ready for church. And that doesn't include shower time! I looked awesome but felt like my usual  #Fibromyalgia #ChronicFatigueSyndrome #ChronicIllness self.  So, I went to church and everyone said, "Oh, you look so wonderful!  You must be feeling so much better."  I just nodded and said, "I'm okay."  So, is it worth it to spend all that time to look great when it's going to make people think I'm healthier than I am?  Or does it really matter what they think?  I looked good, and emotionally that made me feel good, and gave me something to focus on besides my physical pain.  What do you think?

I’m stranded on this lonely island with no rescue boat in sight.
The pain, the angst is hard to deny.
Taking one day at a time is the only way to survive.

Those who bare no pain can rarely comprehend.
Empathy is not their forte, which is a shame.
“But you don’t look sick” is their famous phrase.
“It’s all in your head” you don’t say?
“Go for a walk and you’ll be okay” they love to state.

This lonely island is too big to navigate.
But giving up is not an option.
I’ll find my way to happiness, despite the pain and agony.
I’m strong, I’m brave, I’m a fighter.
No judgment or lack of understanding will stop me.
