Mental Health Mugs

These mugs do more than just hold coffee.

“My thought is that every single revolution is fueled by coffee, and coffee always needs a mug.”

Keely Carney founded Mental Health Mugs in August 2017.

It’s a business that mixes two of Carney’s passions:

coffee and mental health advocacy.

Carney’s experience with discorded eating led to opening the business.

The company donates 10% of proceeds to mental health charities and nonprofits.

Carney also hopes to offer second chances to those who need them.

“I live in South Florida, which is like the addiction treatment capital of the world. A lot of people can’t go back to the job they came from. I want to start introducing handmade mugs and the people who need that second chance can be the people who are actually making them.”

Most importantly, these mugs open the conversation around mental health.

“I’m hoping that these mugs are reaching people who are struggling, but some of the best responses we’ve gotten have come from the friends, family and loved ones who aren’t struggling themselves but want to support other people in their lives who are. And I fundamentally believe that we don’t have the “mentally well” over here and the “mentally ill” over here. We need everybody to come to the table. It sounds so little, but if you pause while you’re sipping your coffee or your tea and you think about your mental health and you do that day after day after day, something changes. You don’t need to be making these giant leaps to get where you want to be.”

You can order a mug at mentalhealthmugs.com!
