Remember Those With Rare Disease This Holiday Season

This holiday season, remember to reach out to loved ones with rare disease who may not be able to join in on the season’s festivities.

Transcription:

The holidays are supposed to be a time for closeness,

for love, and for family and friends.

A time for laughter, joy and togetherness.

But for families affected by rare disease, let’s remember:

The parents, who can’t take time off so they can manage their child’s back-to-back doctor’s visits.

Your friend, whose condition makes them too fatigued for holiday shopping.

A co-worker, whose pain prevents them from saying “yes” to parties.

Your neighbors, who have been at the hospital, trying to make it through each day and night.

A relative, who’s in too much pain to make a meal or put up decorations.

So many have trouble voicing their struggles,

especially during the holidays.

an instead of feelings of togetherness,

loneliness and isolation can settle in.

So please remember to reach out

to your loved ones, to your neighbors, to your friends.

A “how are you” can go a long way

and a simple knock on the door could make someone’s day.

Check in with those who might be forgotten,

because everyone deserves some joy and light this season.
