Madeline Stuart, Model With Down Syndrome, Now Has Her Own Doll
Madeline Stuart, the 18-year-old model with Down syndrome from Brisbane, Australia, whose photos went viral back in May, has now been immortalized in the form of a toy.
The Madeline Stuart doll was made by Western Australian artist Veronica McRae as a part of her company, The Cubby House Kids, which gives used dolls a new, more childlike makeover.
The one-of-a-kind doll is 9.5 inches tall and comes with hand-made and specially designed clothing and shoes. It is available for sale on eBay and the proceeds will benefit InsideOutside, a nonprofit dance company that provides education and performance opportunities for people of all ages, with or without disabilities.
Since Stuart’s modeling photos went viral, she’s been contacted by many fashion companies and has been traveling all over the world to model, The Daily Mail reported.
“We’ve had a lot off offers and Maddy is loving it, but it hasn’t fazed us much,” Maddy’s mother, Rosanne Stuart, told the outlet. “That’s not what it’s about for us. We want to change people’s perspectives on intellectual disability but what’s important is our daily routine and just being happy.”
