Mom Calls Out Fashion Industry in Emotional Post About Son With Down Syndrome

Every kid deserves a chance to pursue their dreams.

Louis Killick is a 6-year-old boy with Down syndrome from Surrey, England, who dreams of being a model. However, despite efforts by his mother, Anita Killick, Louis has been unable to break into the industry.

Louis successfully took part in a catwalk show with advocacy group Models of Diversity, but he has been unable to book other modeling jobs.

Killick took to Facebook to vent her frustrations. She says some of the companies she’s contacted don’t return her calls while others give her excuses for why they don’t have any models with disabilities, such as claiming people would see the models and their disabilities instead of the clothes.

Down Syndrome is only a fraction of who he is… My son may have Down syndrome but he still wears clothes, so why can’t he be a model?” Killick wrote. “We would love Louis to have a chance to show the world that it is possible to represent in fashion even if you have a disability.”
