When the Voice of Self-Doubt Creeps In

The voice of self-doubt will often play on repeat and grow loud in volume in my mind, making it difficult to believe in my abilities and myself. I try to put a positive soundtrack on instead, but sometimes my anxious thoughts are so strong, flooding my mind to the point where I feel completely overwhelmed. In these moments, I tend to withdraw into my own little chrysalis where I feel safe. The generalized and social forms of my anxiety can make it both intimidating and challenging to engage with the world.

When the feeling of self-doubt continues to wash over me, I have found that generating a list of all that I am grateful for helps me to experience a shift in perspective. I slowly begin to lay a foundation of confidence and courage for myself by realizing that I am not alone in my struggle with anxiety. My family and friends are my extraordinary team, my cheerleaders who are rooting for me every day.

Anxiety can make you feel isolated, but when you acknowledge how loved you are and how much you have to offer this world, your horizon can expand. I am learning to take each step of my journey with faith rather than fear. In doing so, I have come to realize that my wings are not broken. They are just waiting to be opened!
