'A Star Is Born,' 'Sharp Objects' Take Home Awards at the Golden Globes

“A Star Is Born” and “Sharp Objects”  took home awards at the Golden Globes Sunday. The movie and HBO show both feature topics related to mental health including suicide, addiction, trauma and self-harm

Actress Patricia Clarkson won for her supporting role in “Sharp Objects” as Adora Crellin, the mother of Camille Preaker (Amy Adams). Clarkson’s character was abusive toward Camille, who struggled with self-harm. You can check out The Mighty’s review of the limited series here.

While it didn’t take home any Golden Globes for the larger categories, “A Star Is Born” won a Golden Globe for best original song, “Shallow” — the first song Ally (Lady Gaga) and Jack (Bradley Cooper) sing together in the movie. Lady Gaga accepted the award along with songwriters Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomondo and Andrew Wyatt.

This was the fourth remake of the story, the first of which was made in the 1930s. When “A Star Is Born” premiered in October, people began warning others online about possible triggers in the movie around addiction and suicide.
