It’s the superhero movie of a lifetime, the one we’ve all been waiting for. We’ve seen all the movies up to the final film of this era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: “Avengers: Endgame.” I’m sure there are many individuals with autism who want to see the most anticipated superhero movie ever made, as well as their parents. However, there are some things to consider before you go.

First, it’s important to know the film’s runtime. The movie is three hours long! There are many people with autism who can’t sit for 30 minutes, never mind three hours due to high anxiety. Plus, some individuals with autism have higher voice volumes than most people. I know the feeling. When you’re in the movie theater for three hours, you have to stay quiet. We’ve waited over a decade for this this highly anticipated movie and people around you will want you to be quiet at all times.

I strongly do not recommend going to see this movie late at night as a person with autism. I’ve noticed most of us don’t like to be out too late. We like be in and relax at night before bed. You may not get home until midnight if you go see this movie at 8 p.m.

Also from experience, avoid drinking too much soda during this movie. You don’t want to have to keep getting up to go to the bathroom. I’m not telling you to not go see the movie. It’s the movie everyone wants to see, so you should see it too if you want. These are just some things to keep in mind before going to see it. Go enjoy the superhero movie of a lifetime and remember, no spoilers!
