P!nk Says She and Husband Carey Hart Have Been In Couples Counseling for 17 Years
If you grew up in a “broken” home, you might relate to the struggle of navigating healthy relationships in adulthood.
This is something “Who Knew” singer P!nk opened up about in a recent interview with People magazine. The star shared that she and husband Carey Hart both grew up in “broken families” and have been in couples counseling almost the entire 17 years they’ve been together.
“It’s the only reason we’re still together. He speaks Polish, I speak Italian and [our therapist] speaks both. We don’t speak the same language,” she said. “We come from broken families, and we had no model for: How are we supposed to keep this family together and live this crazy life? And there’s no book that says, ‘Here’s how to do this.’ So we go to counseling, and it works.”
The couple separated in 2008, but reconciled the following year. In January, Hart posted a picture of the two of them on Instagram commemorating their 13-year anniversary.
“Who would have thought two misfits like us could pull it off!!!” he wrote in the Instagram caption. “I’m very grateful for you, baby. We have created an amazing life and family together.”
P!nk said that therapy has also helped her on her own mental health journey.
“I’ve been depressed, I have anxiety. I overthink everything,” she told People. “But what I do is I keep the right people around me and I go to therapy.”
