The Importance of Allowing Yourself to Grieve
Grief isn’t a map you follow; there are no set destinations you have to meet in order to heal in the right way. Grieving is different for every person who’s experienced loss. It’s a deeply personal experience and one you should allow yourself to feel. In the wake of loss you’ll feel and have a spectrum of emotions and thoughts. Feel all of it in its entirety.
Some days are going to be unbearable and feel like you can’t survive them. Believe me, you can.
Some days are going to feel like you’re walking around on broken glass, too afraid to make a move because of what might come to the surface. Remember you are strong enough to withstand fire.
Some days will feel like a daze, as if you aren’t apart of your body and things aren’t real. It’s important to stay connected to yourself and the supports around you.
Some days won’t feel so bad and you’ll feel guilty for that; that’s a natural reaction, but try and get some relief while you can.
The most important thing to remember is there is no wrong way to grieve nor is there a time frame on the grieving process. Everyone grieves in their own ways, no two people are alike. As cliche’ as it sounds, time really does heal or at least lessen the blow of all wounds.
