No, I’m not pregnant, but I am obsessed with my maternity pillow. I have been for years. I came across a pin on Pinterest about how these pillows can help those with chronic pain sleep more comfortably. Naturally, skepticism crept in. How is this u-shaped pillow any different from the regular body pillows I’ve had over the years?
Well, let me tell you, when that Amazon package came to my door and when I laid down with my new pillow that night, I knew I would never sleep with anything else again. Sorry, future husband.
Due to the design, there are many different configurations that accommodate a plethora of positions. Whether you are a side sleeper, back sleeper, or want to sit up to read, you can manipulate the pillow to what you need. Personally, I’m a side sleeper so having support on both the front and back of my body allows my muscles to relax. On your back, you get your legs elevated slightly, your hips aligned, and your neck supported.
I’ve slept with my maternity pillow every night for the last seven years. It truly gives my body the additional support it needs to keep my joints aligned, which in turn allows my muscles to relax. I’ve tried to get others in my life to try it out, but they all think I’m weird. But they’re not spoonies who are willing to try anything to improve their lives. So here you go, this is my testament to the efficacy of maternity pillows. Try it out, what do you have to lose?
