What is collective trauma?
I've been pondering the topic of collective trauma lately as I keep asking myself why I'm constantly so overwhelmed. I think the root of it is collective trauma.
What is collective trauma? Any kind of trauma that is experienced by many people at once, like a pandemic, a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, or a mass shooting.
I'd argue that in the past several years, we've endured not just one — but several collective traumas that are affecting us on a global scale. And this is overwhelming a lot of us.
I'm finding it hard to keep up with everything and finding it even harder to engage with others. Humaning and interacting with other beings (except my cat) are grating on me and no amount of self care is pulling me out of it.
Does anyone else find themselves in this position?: What helps you reset when you feel like this? How can we help one another acknowledge the trauma we have all endured together?
