FB_IMG_1451141573615 Dear Husband,

I watched you as you were filling my pill cases the other day.

You didn’t complain, like I do, about how boring it is.

I didn’t ask you to do it. You just did it because that’s what you do everyday.

You take care of me. We even have a joke about it. “The Pill Case Fairy” comes and magically fills my pill case. I love it when The Pill Case Fairy comes.

You come home from work, surely tired, but you often wind up making dinner because you know my tired is different than your tired. I help you when I can, but you understand when I need to sit or lay down.

You are always there with whatever medicine exactly when I need it. And on the days I don’t want to eat or take my medicine because I’m too tired or it hurts too much, you don’t take no for an answer.

You will find anything for me to eat.

You fight with insurance companies for days on end and drive two hours one way just to make sure I have medicine.

You sit with me in hospitals and doctor’s offices and help me do my shots, all the while never complaining when you’re missing work.

You revel with me when I’m having a good day and dry my tears when everything becomes overwhelming.

Through all of this, you never treat me like a patient. I am still your wife, your partner. I hope you know I see everything you do, and I am thankful for it. I wish I had a better way to say it. Crohn’s was my disease, and you have taken it on as your fight. That means the world to me. You are my hero, my Crohn’s fighting, knight in shining armor.
