Marvel Comics Legend Stan Lee Dies at 95

Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee died on Monday at the age of 95, according to TMZ. Lee’s cause of death has not been released, though he struggled with health issues. Lee had pneumonia in February and had developed progressive hearing and vision loss. He was known for creating many well-known superheroes for Marvel Comics, including Spider-Man, Thor and X-Men.

Lee was a formative figure in the comic world, first as a writer and then as an editor, publisher, producer and more. He was also known to have a cameo in most Marvel movies.

He created many characters over the years, including some with disabilities. Daredevil, who was created by Lee in 1964 and whose film premiered in 2003, was blind. Daredevil was the first superhero with a disability to have his own comic series. Professor X from “X-Men,” which spawned multiple movies, used a wheelchair. Dr. Strange from “Doctor Strange” lost the use of his hands after a car accident.

Fans, actors cast in Marvel movies and even Marvel’s competitor, DC Comics, reacted to the legend’s death on Twitter.
