Because living with a chronic illness, disability or mental health condition might mean working from home is your best option, in September, we began compiling monthly lists of remote jobs you may be interested in. And we’ve got a success story to share that we hope will inspire your own employment search. Last month, a Mighty community member applied for one of the jobs on our list and got it!

This month we’ve culled seven more companies that hire remote employees with openings you can apply for right now. They’re looking for writers, fundraising assistants, video producers, community analysts, marketing professionals and more. Plus, many of these companies offer generous benefits, flexible schedules and international opportunities.

1. Crossover

Crossover provides online human resources and recruiting services thanks to employees who work remotely around the globe. The company specializes in software, so many openings are geared toward the tech savvy. Per its website, the application is rigorous. After applying, you’ll likely need to attend a 3-5 hour informational webinar and take a series of short aptitude tests. For some positions, like a QA Manual Tester, prospective employees are required to attend a paid, four-week boot camp in order to be considered, which only 50 percent of applicants finish. Crossover doesn’t list information about benefits on its website.

2. Elastic

In the tech world, data is all the rage. That’s what Elastic is all about, supporting clients who want to search, analyze and visualize information. Most of Elastic’s workforce is remote worldwide, and it’s flexible about your location. Even when a job listing might suggest working onsite, try contacting Elastic’s HR department to see if you can work from home instead. The company offers generous paid time off, flexible schedules, health benefits, up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave and it allows you to spend up to 40 hours a year volunteering.

3. Wallethub

If you’re mindful about your credit report, you may already be familiar Wallethub. The company started by providing free credit scores and reports to its clients, and it also offers online financial advisement services. With positions open in content, product, engineering and more, Wallethub advertises a competitive salary, and many positions offer health benefits. Beware that most job listings also mention it wants applicants ready to work 50-plus hours a week, so work-life balance might be difficult.

4. Wikimedia Foundation

You’ve heard of Wikipedia, yes? The organization behind arguably the largest free online encyclopedia, Wikimedia Foundation, needs employees in its advancement, communications, technology and community engagement departments. It offers great benefits, including medical coverage, an additional $1,800 in annual wellness benefits to cover childcare, student loans, fitness programs or continuing education, plus retirement packages. Many open positions are on a contract basis, which means the job isn’t permanent and has a set end date. The company is based in San Francisco, though most positions offer the option to work remotely.

5. Sticker Mule

Sticker Mule’s business is as creative as its name — it offers printing services for customers who want to order custom stickers, magnets and more. The company is looking for employees to support its manufacturing, marketing, customer service and development. While some jobs require onsite workers (its main headquarters are in New York), at least half of the current openings can be done remotely worldwide. According to Sticker Mule’s website, hired employees get a signing bonus, health insurance and flexible schedules.

6. Automattic

Perhaps a perfect place to land if you’re all about technology, Automattic provides open source publishing online that’s key to popular sites like WordPress. It’s mainly looking for tech gurus, but it also needs employees in admin departments such as human resources and finance. Automattic has a generous benefits package, which includes an open vacation policy, a co-working budget for each member of its all-remote global workforce, health and life insurance benefits by country, open parental leave that’s fully paid after you’ve been with the company for at least 12 months and the ability to take a two- to three-month paid sabbatical, which is encouraged, every five years.

If a really flexible schedule is important to you — the ability to work odd nighttime hours so you can make appointments during the day, for example — check out GitLab. A technology company that self-describes their mission as “web platforms for hosting project source codes,” it has openings in engineering, marketing, sales and more. Staff positions are fully remote around the globe, and the company focuses on inclusion, diversity and, in its own words, “empathy.” Benefits information isn’t listed on the site outside of flexible scheduling. The application and interview process is extensive, which can include more than four or five interviews.
