WhiteHouse.gov No Longer Has a Disability Section

Shortly after Donald Trump’s inauguration, the WhiteHouse.gov website switched from the website managed by the Obama administration to a new website managed by the Trump administration. Within hours, people noticed pages that were originally dedicated to disability, the LGBT community, civil rights, and climate change appeared to have been removed.

Previously, if you visited https://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/disabilities you were directed to a page about the government’s commitment to people with disabilities (which you can view on the archived version of Obama’s Whitehouse.gov site.). Now the page says “Sorry, the page you’re looking for can’t be found.”

According to The Washington Post, the Trump administrations website was built to include Trump’s top priorities, including gun owner’s rights and support for law enforcement. The administration’s website fails to mention any disability policy. Also missing are plans to address Obamacare and its repeal.

LGBTQ, Civil Rights, and Disability pages are gone from the White House website.

This could just be an oversight, with the Trump administration planning to add more pages with time, but omitting a page geared towards the 53 million Americans living with a disability only further excludes those with disabilities, many who already feel like they are ignored within American politics.
