Celebrities Wear White Roses to the Grammys to Support Times Up
At Sunday’s Grammys, many celebrities held or wore a white rose to show support of the Times Up movement, an extension of #MeToo and an effort to end sexual violence, assault and abuse in the workplace. This year’s award season has centered around raising this kind of awareness, with actors wearing black in solidarity at the Golden Globes earlier this month.
A white rose symbolizes respect, pays homage to new beginnings and expresses hope for the future. We like the sound of that. #TIMESUP at the #GRAMMYS pic.twitter.com/cNTZO5bYcK

According to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll in 2017, nearly half of working women say they have experienced harassment in the workplace. In a 2015 Cosmopolitan survey, 1 in 3 women said they’d been harassed in the workplace and 71% of those women said they did not report it.
Just a few of the celebrities wearing the white rose included Kelly Clarkson, Cardi B, Lady Gaga, Camila Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, Sam Smith and Reba McEntire.
“My thinking on the white rose — everybody’s got their opinion of the way things should be, and I’m just going back to the Golden Rule: Treat others like you wanna be treated,” McEntire said on the red carpet. “Everybody be kind to each other.”
