5 Little Things You Can Do to Help Your Mental Health Today
If any of you have experience being in a rut, whether it be mental health-related or not, you probably know how hard it is to pull you out of that sad/anxiety-driven funk. It’s super hard and not the easiest thing to turn around. But I came up with some tips that might help you or at least make you smile a little bit.
1. Lush baths.
Bath bombs from Lush are great because they are colorful and happy and they are balls of energy. Lush is known to have been making some really happy and over-the-top bath bombs. Especially during Easter time when the colorful ones are out, Enjoying a nice bubble bath will relax you and help with your self-care.
2. Go for a walk.
Easier said than done, right? But even walking for 10 to 20 minutes can improve your mood drastically. Walking helps serotonin in your brain. Any physical activity does. So take your dog or cat for a walk and enjoy the sunshine.
3. Drink water.
It’s pretty simple and something we should be doing every day, but it’s so useful and helps our body and minds so much. Drinking water helps us so much, not only mentally but physically too. You should be drinking five to six glasses a day. If that’s too much for you, try using flavored water droplets — it taste just like juice.
4. Write a positive affirmation about yourself.
I’ve been lacking with this one a lot lately and I shouldn’t be. Writing down a positive affirmation about yourself and sticking it to a window or wall or mirror can brighten your day when you see something positive about yourself. It removes negative stigma and you can get up with something to smile to.
5. Buy yourself flowers.
I recently did this and I don’t do it a lot but when I do, it sure brightens my day. When I’m feeling down or anxious, I sometimes like to buy myself flowers to perk me up. Just this week I bought myself one of my favorite flowers ever — tulips. Because they are now in season. Buying your favorite flowers can bring you joy and that little brightness at the end of the day. When you see the flowers, you can be reminded how life is beautiful.
Hopefully some of these self-care tips and tricks can help you with your daily life.
