How it started!#MightyCrafts #ChronicPain #Disability
I shared a photo of my most recent needlepoint a few days ago. Well this is where it started.
About 6 years ago, I was recovering from my 4th surgery on my right hip. And stuck in bed for 6 months. I needed a project. I had been tossing this Texas idea around in my head. I drew up some designs. I used perle cotton on this. I wanted to see if it challenged me.
Actually, it did challenge me and was a pleasure to do. I also did one in blues too.
Then, I did Texas all in greens for my green-loving daughter. Another in rainbow colors for my good friend, who is transistioning into a male.
Each one has its own designs and patterns.
I used to be very athletic. Now at 73 y/o, I need periods of rest as well as activities too.
I love needlepoint. It's very relaxing. It can also be challenging. It keeps my fingers active and my brain focused.
True it's not for everyone. However, between the 12 Steps and my needlepoint, I've stayed sober for 33 years!
