Has your mind body connection been disrupted by trauma?
Recently I came upon this article written by Heidi Fischer about a brilliant tool to help rediscover the mind body connection:
If Trauma Messed With Your Mind/Body Connection, This Tool Is For You
I thought this was awesome. So often trauma causes us to shut down any sensation of our bodies, and for good reason. It's a clever coping strategy particularly if our bodies were in danger.
However, long term, this disconnection can make life challenging and rob us of joy. Figuring out how we can safely inhabit our bodies is key. For me I've found that exercise, yoga, cooking and petting my cat are safe ways to inhabit my body. But this tool is very tempting.
What do you think? Would this work for you? What activities help you connect to your body?
