Help This 10-Year-Old With an Eminem-Themed Prosthetic Meet His Rapping Idol
When 10-year-old Teejay Stainer picked out the design for his prosthetic leg, he knew exactly what he wanted. Stainer is a huge Eminem fan, so what better way to pay tribute than to have the rapper’s face emblazoned on his prosthesis?
Teejay, from Andover, England, was born with a deformity called fibular hemimelia, and when he was a baby, doctors amputated his right leg. Though it was initially believed Teejay would never be able to walk, the energetic youngster has beaten the odds, and he now enjoys swimming and karate, too. Prosthetist Stephen Cox, who works with Steeper Prosthetics, was the one who created the custom leg.
Now all Teejay wants is to meet Eminem in person to show him the touching tribute.
With the help of his mom Georgina Stainer, Teejay put his request on Facebook on July 22, and the post has since received more than 11,000 shares.
“We have been overwhelmed by the response Teejay has had and is still getting,” Georgina Stainer told the Andover Advertiser. “We have had messages from fellow amputees saying what an inspiration Teejay is. With the huge response he has had we are hoping that it is bringing awareness for other amputees and, if that’s all that we achieve, we will be satisfied. We haven’t had a response from Eminem as of yet but by the reaction so far Teejay is very hopeful that he will.”
