'Modern Family' Star Sofia Vergara Posts Mammogram Selfie on Instagram

To show her support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to stress the importance of early detection, “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara posted a selfie of her yearly mammogram on Instagram.

The message from the 45-year-old was simple: “You have to do it.”

You have to do it!!!???????????????? #mammogram ????#medicalimaging women’s imaging.

She shared a similar post in May of 2016:

Although Vergara is smiling in both posts, the reality of breast cancer remains serious. It is still the most common cancer diagnosed in American women, despite a recent study by the American Cancer Society that breast cancer death rates have declined almost 40 percent between 1985 and 2015.

The actress was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 28, so this is an issue that remains close to her heart.

Vergara is one of many female celebrities raising awareness for mammograms this month. Another includes Sheryl Crow, who recently discussed her battle with breast cancer 11 years earlier.
