On Sunday, TMZ reported that Demi Lovato has reportedly left rehab after 90 days. She was spotted out and about in Los Angeles over the weekend. Lovato was hospitalized after a drug overdose on July 24 and following a recovery period in the hospital, the “Sober” singer checked herself into inpatient rehab.
Lovato’s mother, Dianna De La Garza, revealed on Oct. 27 that Lovato was celebrating 90 days of sobriety. “She has 90 days,” De La Garza told Maria Menounos during an interview on Sirius XM Radio. “I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work. It’s very hard. It’s not easy and there are no shortcuts.”
Before checking into rehab in August, Lovato posted a message on her Instagram account thanking fans for their support during her hospitalization and letting them know she would be prioritizing her recovery over the next several months.
“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” she wrote. “The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
It’s unclear if Lovato has completely checked out of rehab or if she was home in Los Angeles on a temporary weekend pass. On Oct. 31, an unidentified source suggested to E! News Lovato may spend several additional months in treatment and may not return to Los Angeles when she leaves the rehab facility.
“Demi is doing great and is really receptive to the help that she is getting,” the source told E! News. “Treatment has really changed her and she is looking forward to remaining sober and her new outlook on life.”
