9 Work From Home Jobs You Can Apply for This November

Finding a good job you actually want is hard enough on its own. Add in needing to work from home because it’s better for your disability, chronic illness or mental health, and the job search gets harder. While more companies are adding positions you can do remotely, they’re still in the minority despite some solid benefits for both employees and employers.

For example, though only an estimated 24 percent of people work from home on any given day, 65 percent believe a flexible schedule and work from home options would increase their productivity. Considering that companies lose an estimated $90 billion in employee productivity each year due to excessive commuting, there’s a good financial reason for companies to get on board. Not to mention, providing the option to work remotely makes the workforce more accessible and therefore more equal for everyone.

We’re hoping to give your job search — and workplace productivity — a boost by compiling a list of companies that get it and are hiring remote workers right now. This month we found opportunities that might be a great fit if you’re into customer service, mental health, writing and technology. Check them out and let us know how your job search is going!

1. Convergys

It’s popular these days for companies to hire an outsourced customer support team. That’s Convergys’ mission. To make that happen, it needs peppy customer service reps like you. The company currently has openings in 35 U.S. states, and you must live in the state listed on the job posting to apply. Employees are eligible for full medical benefits, paid time off and paid training.

2. Basis

Basis is a brand new app that wants to disrupt mental health care by offering affordable sessions with a peer support counselor. If you like supporting others, Basis needs peer support specialists who are available at least two to three hours a week to provide video or phone sessions to Basis clients. Training is done remotely, but the website warns that only 20 percent of applicants make it all the way through the rigorous training process. It’s a contract, part-time position.

3. CVS Health

CVS Health may be known as your friendly neighborhood pharmacy, but the mission of the corporation covers a much larger swath of healthcare from advising patients to OneMinute clinics in communities across the U.S. It offers a variety of positions as work from home opportunities, from pharmacy consultants, account managers and customer service reps. However, paid onsite training is required and you must do a “virtual try out” of the job you’re applying for as part of the application process.

4. TTEC

If you want to join a company that handles around 3.5 customer interactions daily, TTEC is the place for you. The company, formerly called TeleTech, has a global presence supporting the technical and customer service needs of its clients by, as it says, “humanifying” the customer experience. As an employee, you may be eligible for tuition reimbursement, bonuses and advancement opportunities, though health benefits do not appear on the list of benefits.

5. LiveOps

The company’s title may sound like a spy mission, but LiveOps really provides on-demand customer service and support that The New York Times called the “Uber of customer service.” All of LiveOps’ agents are signed on as independent contractors (you won’t be eligible for company benefits) and you could work in healthcare, food ordering, roadside assistance, payroll, sales, insurance and more. It’s unclear, however, if the required four-week certification program is paid or part of their application process.

Customer service is clearly one of the most popular work-from-home opportunities, so add NexRep to the list. The company does things a little differently. You don’t apply for a specific opening, but to be added to its agent roster. Placement may depend on availability across the company’s customer support categories — as seen on TV, sales and customer care. As an independent contractor, you’re not eligible for benefits, but NexRep’s website advertises agents can work flexible full- or part-time schedules.

8. Ginger.io

Like other start-up companies, Ginger.io hopes to create better access to mental health care by offering on-demand coaching, therapy and psychiatry sessions via video and personalized self-care tips via its app. While it’s based in San Francisco and mostly wants in-person applicants, if you’re a licensed therapist (or psychiatrist), Ginger.io has remote part-time, contractor positions available.

Most of its jobs are remote and range from therapist to managing editor, engineers and HR professionals. Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage and generous paid time off, which reflects 7 Cups’ dedication to mental wellness.
