Apps Offer Therapy Resources for People Who Need Them
What are therapy resources?
Therapy resources are things that you can find online or in an app store that help you get mental health assistance. It could be working with a company like BetterHelp, or you could download an app that enables you to get cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) assistance. Apps can help you note how your thoughts are affecting your feelings, which is extremely important in CBT. Some apps provide a place where you can track your mood and your thoughts. Sometimes your thoughts will be negative, and they’ll affect the way you feel about yourself. It’s important to recognize these negative thought patterns and realize your thoughts aren’t who you are. Having an app handy to take note of how you’re feeling is helpful both inside and outside of a therapy session because you can share what you’ve recorded with your therapist during a meeting and you can become more aware of your thoughts and use the skills that you’ve learned in therapy outside of a session.
We use apps for many things: why not therapy?
There’s an app for nearly anything you can think of, so why wouldn’t there be an app for therapy or therapy resources? There are apps to remember appointments, ones to organize our exercise routine or what we’re eating each day. There are apps to track how much (or little) you’re sleeping. Therapy is a natural thing to have in an app. It’s a way to take charge of your mental health, and it’s all within a small piece of technology.
An app can be more than an app
When we think of technology, we often think of the burdens that come with it, as though our devices are just robots here to take over the world, but therapy apps are different. Therapy apps are here to help us be better people. If you have control over your mental health, you feel better about yourself, and that’s what an app does — it allows you the freedom to track your mental health, and you’re able to gain control over some of the things that are happening in your mind. Technology isn’t just about advancements; it’s about autonomy and taking newfound control over things. That’s why having access to these apps helps us. There are resource apps for mental health available on every platform, and when you’re struggling, it’s important to remember that online therapy is one of the ways to get treatment for yourself.
How online therapy is a therapy resource
Online therapy is a resource because it is therapy. It’s there to help you get well; it’s not just a place where you’re talking to a robot or a random droid. You’re speaking to a licensed therapist and getting the help you need for your mental health if you’re thinking about trying online therapy, give it a shot — you’re not talking to a robot or AI, you’re talking to a person. Online therapists are real, and they want to help you achieve your mental health goals. Think about it this way: do you spend a lot of time on social media? Many of us do, and we’ve interacted with people around the world that we’ve never met in “real life.” The same principle goes for an online therapist. You may never meet your therapist in person, but they can have a tremendous impact on your mental health. And, you’re interacting with them through an app on your phone or tablet. It’s amazing how technology can have a positive effect on our mental health and wellness. Think about trying online therapy, and take a step in a positive direction toward bettering your mental health.
